Ozonteatern was born out of a need to create an artistic platform for its members. One of the main aims of the theatre is to present innovative, modern and engaging interpretations of classical plays. We believe in the power of the classical material: strong, well written manuscripts and eternal burning questions of what it is to be a human being. We think classical plays offer endless possibilities to stay in dialogue with our present time, our history and our future, and they bring Finnish-Swedish dramatic art in Finland closer to the international arena.

Ozonteatern believes in long-term work, artistic integrity and more profound working processes. Our  motto is high artistic standard.

We believe in the encounter with the audience, the straight address, and the capacity of the theatre to bring people together in a time of individualism.

Ozonteatern contributes to raising the quality of the art of acting in our country by organizing post-graduate training for actors and maintaining an active dialogue with its audience and partners about the role of the theatre in our society.

Ozonteatern is a professional Finnish theatre company, founded in 2001. Founding members are actress Mia Hafrén, director and actress Åsa Salvesen, set designer and painter Erik Salvesen and author Kjell Lindblad. Erik Salvesen was Artistic Director  2001-2013.

Ozonteatern has had no productions of its own since 2007. Artistically two of its founding members Åsa Salvesen and Erik Salvesen have continued developing the principles and aims of Ozonteatern by co-operating with the Drama Program at Västra Nylands folkhögskola in Karis, Finland 2004-20013. In Tryckeriteatern in Karis, the team presented conspicuous and award-winning productions, including plays by Shakespeare, Brecht, Beckett and Strindberg.

Ozonteatern is based on broad competence. During his 25-year career Erik Salvesen, set designer and painter, has participated in more than 140 productions in theatres all over Finland and abroad. He is well known for his strong and penetrant visual language. Åsa Salvesen, actress, director and journalist, works with bringing international influences to acting training in Finland. Since 1998 she has studied and worked with the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique. She is chairwoman of Michael Chekhov Europe, a Berlin-based network of European actors and directors. Another member of the group is Mia Hafrén, actress, director and singer, one of the front figures of the successful Finnish a capella group FORK. The writer Kjell Lindblad  contributes with his literary expertise and knowledge.

The theatre co-operates with other theatres elsewhere in Finland and abroad.
